A sweet, fried cornmeal dumpling, crisp outside and soft inside, served beside jerk and fried fish.
What makes it festival
Flour and cornmeal, sweetened.
Rolled into fingers and fried.
Slightly sweet, to go with hot, salty food.
Where it comes from
Where the name comes from isn't clear. What's certain is where it's eaten: beside fried fish at Hellshire and the other beaches around Kingston, and at jerk stands all over the island.
