Bibimbap

What makes it bibimbap

  • Rice under separately seasoned namul.
  • An egg and gochujang.
  • Mixed before eating.

Where it comes from

Bibim means mixing; bap, rice. Jeonju's version, with many toppings on rice cooked in beef stock, is the most celebrated. In a dolsot — a heated stone bowl — the rice at the bottom crisps into a crust.
