Thin slices of beef marinated in soy, sugar, pear, garlic and sesame, then grilled or seared fast.
What makes it bulgogi
Beef sliced thin.
Soy, sugar, pear, garlic, sesame.
Cooked fast over high heat.
Where it comes from
Bulgogi means 'fire meat'. Its ancestor, neobiani, was a dish of the royal court. Grated Asian pear in the marinade sweetens it and tenderises the beef.
