Reposado tequila
Tequila rested in oak for two months to under a year — still tasting of agave, rounded with vanilla and a little spice.

Knowing it
- Where to buy
- Pale gold rather than amber is a good sign the oak hasn't swamped the agave. Small amounts of additives (caramel, glycerine, sweeteners) are allowed and not listed; bottles that declare themselves additive-free are worth seeking.
- Worth knowing
- It takes whiskey's place in stirred drinks: a reposado old fashioned with agave syrup and a dash of bitters. It fat-washes well with brown butter.
